What's In Theaters: 💃💀 A Killer Ballerina <-- also our new band name.
Movie Fun Fact #247: The original Star Wars movies use common themes of mythology that are prevalent in all of human history/culture. Cool.
Y'all watching that Oscars this weekend?
What's your Best Picture prediction?
We're thinking either Shape of Water or Get Out gets it.
Either would be totally cool with us, but our personal fav right now is Phantom Thread. It ain't for everyone, but damn it's good. So good.
Btw, if you're enjoying this email, try forwarding it to someone else. If they hate it, we had nothing to do with it (except, ya know, make it).

RED SPARROW AKA
"What we yell (loudly) during a massage when they press too hard"
R / 2 hrs 20 mins / Spy Thriller
WHAT'S THE DEAL
The Red Sparrow:
1/2 shot of the Bourne franchise
Full shot female badassery
Dash of any 90's action movie
Two cubes of sex
Circle rim of martini glass with cold war nostalgia
Serve cold
In simpler terms, Jennifer Lawrence plays a former Russian ballerina recruited into a spy program where she gets real good at seducing and killing, which helps her save her ailing mother and get out from under the oppression she's had in her life (mostly from men).
But moral quandaries pester, as does a CIA agent played by Joel Edergton (Zero Dark Thirty, Loving) who is her new best friend and lover, or is he?
Dun dun done...
REVIEWS
Are saying it's a bit jumbled story-wise, but well made and that Jennifer Lawrence's performance is great.
So if you like these types of movies and you're fine with making some accommodations, by all means, grab your ticket.

ARE WE GONNA GO?
We're sooomewhat curious, mostly because Jennifer Lawrence is always good, so we put the chances at about 70/30 (against).

DEATH WISH
AKA
"What you'll have whilst watching this movie?"
R / 1 hr 48 mins / Action-Drama
WHAT'S THE DEAL
Looks like wis...erm, fantasy fulfilment for those who subscribe to the "what's the only thing that stops bad guy with a gun - a good guy with a gun" philosophy.
Bruce Willis takes on the role made famous by Charles Bronson and this "reimagining" seems to go even further on the vigilante knows best motif, where Willis looks to kill any "bad guy" he can find.
What brought on such anger? A dead wife and a traumatized daughter, so it's understandable, and yet....
If violence in the name of "justice" ain't your thing, probably best to avoid.
FUN FACT(S)
The book the original film (1974) was based on was known for its anti-vigilante message and the writer critiqued the first version for not understanding the point of the story.
Shocking for Hollywood to miss the point (twice?), we know.

But this ain't a "reviewer" movie, so we say go with your gut.

ARE WE GONNA GO?
Nope. Not unless the producers put a gun to our head.
What's that Mr. Producer? You will put a gun to our head?!
Uh, yes, then definitely yes, for sure, whatever they want. Greatest movie ever, 34 million stars.
