INCREDIBLES 2
AKA
"the movie for kids who used to be kids but now have kids"
PG / 1 hr 48 mins
Comedy-Adventure-Animation / Pixar
WHAT'S THE DEAL
Let's get straight to the most important part dahlings. Yes, Ms. Edna is back.
But if you must be bothered by things like wondering when this one takes place, since it's been oh, you know, 14 years since the original, well the answer is exactly 1 minute after the original ended. That's the beauty of animated characters, man. Kids keep gettin older, they stay the same aaaage.
And speaking of the youths, this time Mr. Incredible is the stay at home parent, while Elastigirl gets to go off and save the world (suffice to say social progress happens much quicker in animated worlds). But don't worry, the rest of the family, including Jack-Jack and Frozen (but not his wife, at least not physically) join in for all the hi-jinks and daring do you expect.
REVIEWS
Pretty super duper. If not quite as ecstatic as for the original.

OUR TAKE
It's a Pixar movie (that isn't Cars), so go, enjoy yourself. We certainly will.

WHAT'S THE DEAL
Adults playing children's games. So the same as most modern comedies really. Except this one's based on a real life legit game played by friends (once a month) for 30 years.
Jeremy Renner has never been "it" (story of his career, amma right?! we kid, sorta), and the rest of the crew wanna snag him before he retires. The rest of the adult children people are played by Jon Hamm, Hannibal Buress, Isla Fisher, Jake Johnson and Ed Helms. So the potential is there...

OUR TAKE
Big fans of cast, unsure of execution. If you're intrigued, we suggest going opening night, bringing a few beers, and a few friends (and a few more beers). We suspect diminishing returns otherwise.

"that annoying little bugger who always gets in right before you close the damn door"

WHAT'S THE DEAL
A remake of the "blaxploitation" movie of the 70's which had that Curtis Mayfield soundtrack everyone knew about. This one isn't going to have the same cultural impact, but noteworthy for how it's shifted the story to Atlanta, both for the sonic shift (Atl based rapper Future did the music) and the recognition of how the city has become a modern hub for culture, and more specifically black culture. Interviews with the director also highlight a shift in treatment of women (although not quite sure how big of a shift). NOTE: in theaters today.

Getting some endorsements. Not crazy strong ones, but enough that if you were curious, might mean it's worth checking out.

OUR TAKE
Apparently it has some fans, so a small mea culpa by us, but just because it's not bad, doesn't mean it's good.
