WHAT'S THE DEAL
If you're being be chased by aliens(?) that look like they're cosplaying Daft Punk, you better have a huge friggen ray gun that shoots something akin to a neon light vomiting, right?
Well lucky for young Eli... cuz he'll need it (as does the plot) in this 80's tinged story about two brothers on the lam - not as fun as a monkey on the lam - from said maybe aliens and a full on wack-o James Franco, who wants money from Eli's just released from prison (non-biological) older bro.
Stranger Things, what have you wrought?!
REVIEWS
A few so far and they don't really recommend. Although some are saying "not quite there," rather than this is total crap. So if you're really feeling the vibe...

OUR TAKE
We love a good stylized genre flick, but cliches weighing a bit heavy on the scale for us.

WHAT'S THE DEAL
Based on a true story about World War 2, but set largely in 1960's Argentina. Huh?
You see, a high ranking Nazi, Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley), escaped to the land of steak and cheeky soccer players after the war. Israel learns of his location and sends a team, led by Oscar Isaac, to bring him back in an effort to put him on trial for war crimes. Rub -----> Israel did not make the Argentine government privy to this extraction - like at all - so imagine there will be some tense moments.
A slightly easier way to think about it is a cross between Argo and Munich with a dash of courtroom drama and cathartic comeuppance tossed in. Unfortunately, not directed by Spielberg (or even Affleck).
Fun fact, the director did co-direct American Pie though. Soooo.
Note: opens today!
REVIEWS
A good quote from The Washington Post that seems to describe the general feeling from critics, "It's neither great nor terrible, neither stylish nor unsexy, but exists in some serviceable compromise between both extremes."

Curious from the pov of historical learning, but moviewise it seems a bit staid.

WHAT'S THE DEAL
To describe a horror movie as austere feels a bit weird, and yet here we are. Now whether that merely describes the aristocratic British setting, or the entire film, is still tbd.
But what we know is that Domhnall Gleeson, aka "that guy in every movie since 2010", will get a tingle in his stache from all the odd going ons at Hundreds Hall, a declining manor he used to frequent as a child, but is now called to as a doctor.
Beyond Gleeson, this one is noteworthy since it's the fourth movie from Room and Frank director Lenny Abrahamson.
REVIEWS
Nothing much quite yet, which is not the best sign for a move that will likely need them to stand out.
Rotten Tomatoes Score: TBD

OUR TAKE
Enjoyed both Room and Frank so we'll give some benefit of the doubt, but we're going to need some strong endorsements.
