"But then there's the seven iron.
I never miss with the seven iron."
Pretty light this week, but lots of "Oscar movies" out and coming soon if that's your thing.
For those not of that ilk, there's a trailer for the "live action" version of The Lion King. Rawr.
Notes: No nationwide releases next week, but a whole lot of well reviewed limited releases (that will likely expand nationwide at some point).

THE POSSESSION OF HANNAH GRACE

WHAT'S THE DEAL
You know those weird human trick videos? The ones where people do bonkers stuff with their bodies that make you go "shut up! nuh uh... NUH UUUH?" Yeah, this is basically the horror movie version of that.
Sure, a girl goes through an exorcism, dies, and her "body" gets sent to the morgue where a conveniently super stressed out worker happens to be alone that night and shit gets super extra weird - as in ending up in the morgue's body refrigerators (yup, that's what they're called). But it's all about the movements the actress (or silly putty made to look like a human, pretty sure it's that) does with her ol bag of bones. Which, ya know, is kinda fun to watch a time or two - in concert with some creepy mood lighting and jump scares. But if you've seen it already in other movies, your "nuh uhs" may be more about this flick as a whole than the incomprehensible twisting of limbs.
Note: stars Shay Mitchell from the TV show Pretty Little Liars as the tweaked out morgue worker.

Comed-Horror-Musical / Orion Pictures
WHAT'S THE DEAL
It's a Christmas themed zombie comedy musical.
......?
If you didn't bail after reading that, you'll likely be rewarded. Because as weird as the above combination of words sound together, and as unlikely as it is for them to actually work as a movie, it seems to have - based on the pretty emphatic reviews (see below).
We can give you a play by play of the plot, but come on, it's a zombie movie. Think Sean of the Dead, meets Zombieland, meets, uh, La La Land. Yup.
REVIEWS
Saying it's fresh and the heart of the story anchors the fun genre mashup.
