Always knew I was gonna die, just not like this. 😳

He's real, and I shot him in the face."
No nationwide releases this week (well, technically, there is, but it's so silly it's barely worth mentioning). Also, looks like the Mark Ruffalo nasty evil bad chemical corp movie Dark Waters is expanding if you were curious, but not "correctly" geographically placed.
There was one other limited release that's also worth highlighting; Portrait of a Lady on Fire - a french language movie about two women coming together under unfortunate circumstances and falling in love. Reviews are like super très bien.

WHAT'S THE DEAL
In One Line: That repairing of Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne (they were in Theory of Everything together) movie where they go super f'n vertical in a balloon to figure out some meteorological "things," but it doesn't go as planned (*le sigh* does it ever?).
Wanna get high? No, not like thaaaat. As in sweaty palms, dropping of the nether regions, omfg I need to lay my entire self on the earth to assure my body it's safe because jesus christ can you just leave me alone I AM DYING - high. Cuz in this movie you will get that high, as you travel with two characters bold (stupid?) enough to hop in a hot air balloon to travel further into the sky than anyone has ever traveled before - well, in the 1860's at least. Why? Because science, duh. But that was legitimately a big deal back then, and rightfully so with all that goes wrong. Which, to prepare you, is apparently the bulk of the movie - Redmayne and Jones (both somewhat sorta based on real people - Redmayne more than Jones) sitting in a bucket smaller than your bathroom, miles into the clouds. There will be flashbacks and the like to explain the characters, but mostly the close to death stuff. Which is why Amazon is doing a limited release focused on IMAX screens (makes sense). But if you're only partly curious (or fear vomiting onto the moviegoer sitting in front of you), it'll be on Amazon Video in a couple weeks (Dec 20th).
PS if you did wanna get that kinda high, it might not be a terrible way to watch this movie. Just sayin'...

IN FABRIC
AKA

R / 1 hr 58 mins
Dark Comedy-Horror / A24
WHAT'S THE DEAL
In One Line: A weirdo dark comedy horror where a killer dress terrorizes its wearers, from the director of The Duke of Burgundy.
Are you ready to get weird? Cuz this is gonna get weird, and it ain't going to be for everyone. Hell, it won't be for most people - it is a movie about a killer dress afterall. But for those who vibe with it, it's probably going to be of their favorites.
The last movie made by the director, Peter Strickland, was another off kilter story about two women engaged in a S & M relationship while they studied lepidopterology ( .....? ya, had no idea either, it means the study of moths and butterflies). So sure, dude ain't makin movies for the normies. But what he does, he is very good at. This is his third full length movie and all are quite well loved by critics.
However, it'll be up to you if you find the idea of a dress causing car crashes, crawling on the floor without being draped on its owner, or hovering over said owner ominously, "enticing." Or maybe you just find it curious, and that'll probably be enough, because it will all look gorgeous and be crafted extremely lovingly and you'll get to tell your friends about this bizarro movie you just saw (cool points ⬆️) . So even if you come out of the movie going "wtf was that?!," you'll probably do so with a smile.
REVIEWS
Critics love it, but they also have to watch dozens of movies every year, so they probably appreciate some oddity, but thing is, they say the odd works. Also, they say it's really quite funny.
