Absolutely nuthin. 😀
GUESS THE QUOTE
"The thing to determine conclusively is
whether you're in a comedy or a tragedy."
You might be thinking, wow, we're still doing this?
Indeed. We are still doing this.
I understand the confusion, because if you look at the theatrical release calendar, there's basically nothing on it. I say "basically," because there are actually some releases still pending; one in particular is a Russian comedy titled Why Don't You Just Die! Which idk, seems a tad aggressive for the moment we're in? Offensive even? But really it's just unfortunate timing. How the hell were they to know the world was going to fall into a pandemic shit vortex where time has stopped and is still going all at once. Even with a 100% RT score, I donna think this movie is going to do very well. Bummer.
But contrary to what you might think, there are actually theaters at which it could be playing - they just happen to be drive-in movie theaters. In the "things I did not know category" there are still over 300 active in the US, and they're doing better than they've done in quite a while apparently. Quite anachronistic and yet so very of the moment (physical distancing and all).
Moving on. How did we all do with our first Does it Hold Up? movie watching project? I procrastinated a bit, but got around to watching our first entry, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World last night and ya know, it certainly isn't for everyone; but even with a hell of a long run time, the anxiety it gives off and more yelling than an episode of *INSERT POPULAR REALITY TV SHOW HERE*, I ultimately liked it. Does it hold up though? Ummmm, I'm gonna cheat a bit and say kinda. Its point about money over everything still comes through, it's goofy funny, it's not incredibly racist or misogynistic (but a lil bit misogynistic) and the action sequences really go for it. Plus, it ends with a banana peel gag. Points for sure.
How about ya'll, did you watch it? If so, what did you think?
For week two of our new Does it Hold Up? (aka what the hell else are we supposed to do?) series, I'm picking Thelma and Louise. Nothing wrong with a movie about breakin' loose right now eh? Viewing options here.
And I don't mind choosing, but I'd love it if you helped pick next week's. We have four options (trailers below). And thank you to the people who suggested ideas (keep em coming please).
